6th Setra Grand Prix on the Nürburgring

SetraUlm. From April 1 to 3, 2005, the Nürburgring will be hosting the Setra Grand Prix 2005. This will be the sixth time Setra has staged this highly popular competition, whose motto is "Training. Hands-on. Unforgettable. The event, in which a maximum of 120 coach drivers from all over Europe and the USA can take part, combines elements of both competition and training. The challenging practical exercises are aimed at perfecting the skills required in driving a modern touring coach. In the "safety training" section, drivers are required to demonstrate their ability to handle critical situations such as taking evasive action on a slippery road surface. In the "economical driving" section, they must drive at a high average speed but consume as little fuel as possible, while in the "test of skill", they must show they can control the bus expertly in a variety of difficult driving situations.

At an evening reception, the winner will be presented with the Grand Prix challenge cup. Setra brand spokesman Werner Staib emphasises the practical benefits of the competi-tion: "This event allows us to cultivate personal contact with operators and drivers.
