USAC Racing Returns to Television in 2006
USAC racing, like the Silver Crown action shown at the 2005 Copper World Classic, will return to television in 2006. The Outdoor Channel will broadcast 20 USAC events throughout the racing season.
The United States Auto Club will make a return to television in 2006, as The Outdoor Channel will broadcast 20 events on various dates throughout the racing season. Shows will include events for the USAC National Sprint, Midget and Silver Crown Series. Team Mopar race drivers and teams will be part of the action, as Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises, Hoffman Auto Racing, Wilke-PAK Motorsports, and others will again vie for championships in 2006.
USAC will bring back the "USAC Thunder" moniker for the broadcast, which was a series that was popular in the 1990s on ESPN2. The 20 tape-delayed events slated to be broadcast on The Outdoor Channel will be shown over a period of 20 weeks, including 14 Saturday afternoons from July to September.
Team Mopar fans will be able to catch their favorite drivers in action in five USAC National Midget Car Series events, as well as two USAC National Sprint Car Series events. 2005 USAC National Midget Car Series Champion Josh Wise will attempt to capture his second straight series title. He'll be joined by 2005 USAC National Sprint Car Series Champion Levi Jones, as Jones was recently signed to the Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises effort. The duo can also be seen in three USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series dirt events that will be held in the coming months.
The Outdoor Channel/USAC Racing broadcast season is scheduled to begin with the Copper World Classic Event at the Phoenix International Raceway on January 21-22. For a complete schedule of broadcast dates and events, log on to usacracing.com.
