About 50 automotive students from Antelope Valley High School, Lancaster, Calif., will get a lesson in Hot Rod 101 thanks to the veteran racing parts maker Joe Mondello and the California Hot Rod Reunion. Mondello will be the featured lecturer at this year’s education seminar hosted by the Reunion, presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California, on Fri., Oct. 10.

The first three races of the six-event NHRA Countdown to 1 championship playoffs have produced three different winners in the Pro Stock category and added some extra spice to the 2008 POWERade title chase. The three Pontiac GXP drivers that have shaken things up in the factory hot rod category, Justin Humphreys, Greg Stanfield and Mike Edwards, have the front runners looking back over their shoulders and straining to see what might be coming next.

Hot Rod Reunion Expected to Bring Another $4 million to Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – (Oct. 1, 2008)
Times are tough and money is super tight, but rodding and racing fans are still traveling to events, which is good news for Bakersfield and Kern County. The 17th annual California National Hot Rod Reunion, presented by Automobile Club of Southern California, is coming to town, Oct. 10-12, at Auto Club Famoso (just outside Bakersfield), and with it, another $4 million is expected to be infused into the community.

Infineon Raceway Wins Pacific Division Drag Racing Title

Infineon Raceway beat out 13 teams from across the western United States, Sept. 26-28, to win the NHRA Summit Racing Series Pacific Division title at Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, Nev. This marks Infineon Raceway’s second Summit Racing Series championship in three years.

Championship contenders head for JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals

Auto Club Dragway at Fontana will become a battleground for the nation’s best amateur drag racers when the third annual JEGS NHRA Pacific SPORTSnationals takes center stage this weekend. Several hundred racers are expected to attend the event, which showcases racers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. The racers who attend the SPORTSnationals will be competing for a share of more than $65,000 in cash and an additional $400,000 in posted contingency awards. Several high profile contestants are also hoping to earn valuable points that could ultimately lead to an NHRA national or divisional championship.
