The 2008 RallyRACC Catalunya finished this afternoon after 353.62 competitive kilometres. The 18 special stages that made up the route provided a stern challenge for all the Citroen drivers. Martin Prokop has emerged once more as the event winner, having won for the first time in Spain in 2006, and come very close to claiming victory again last year. Burkart and Gallagher finished third and fourth, accumulating some precious points for the championship.

A Citroën, Loeb and Sordo shine on the Costa Daurada

The end of the 44th edition of the Rally Catalunya, round 12 of the 2008 World Rally Championship, put the finishing touches to Citroën Total's emphatic domination which produced a superb one-two finish, the team's third in a row, and also its third on the Spanish round. Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena led from flag to flag to extend their lead in the provisional Drivers' championship order, while team-mates Dani Sordo and Marc Martí were perfectly on the pace to secure second spot with their Citroën C4 WRC. The result gives Citroën a 27-point advantage in the Manufacturers' standings, a fitting way to mark the 40th anniversary celebrations of the French firm's partnership in motor sport with Total.

DUVAL GENEROSITY HELPS HIRVONEN TO PODIUM PLACE IN SPAIN

BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team finished third and fourth on Rally de España today after three days of tough competition in the hills above Spain's Costa Daurada coast. Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen claimed the final podium place, their ninth in 12 rallies this season, in a Ford Focus RS World Rally Car while team-mates François Duval and Patrick Pivato were fourth in a similar car after an incident-free weekend on the asphalt roads of Catalonia.

Final twist in Spain sees all three SWRT entries in the top ten

On the final day of Rally Catalunya, Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson were locked in yesterday’s tooth-and-nail battles for position, making for a tense finish to the Impreza WRC2008’s second asphalt rally. Frenchman Brice Tirabassi successfully completed his competitive debut with SWRT inside the top ten having delivered an impressive performance on only his second time behind the wheel of the new Impreza.

STATUS QUO IN SPAIN AS DUVAL KEEPS PRESSURE ON FOR FORD

BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team drivers François Duval and Patrick Pivato and team-mates Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen preserved third and fourth positions respectively during today's second leg of Rally de España. Each claimed a special stage victory in their Ford Focus RS World Rally Cars this afternoon while Duval's pace was such that he narrowed the gap to second-placed Dani Sordo through the asphalt speed tests in the hills above the Costa Daurada coastline.

SWRT crews hold firm in close battles on day two

After the second day of intense mid-field competition in Spain, the Subaru World Rally Team entry of Petter Solberg and Phil Mills remains fifth overall, whilst team-mates Chris Atkinson / Stéphane Prévot pushed hard to climb one position on the morning’s opening test. Brice Tirabassi also retains his overnight position, having just been edged out of a tight scrap of his own.

DUVAL EDGES OUT HIRVONEN TO LIE THIRD AFTER OPENING DAY IN SPAIN

BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team enjoyed a solid start to Rally de España to hold third and fourth places following today's opening leg. François Duval and Patrick Pivato, returning to the official Ford line-up for the first time since 2004, lie third in a Focus RS World Rally Car, just 2.8sec ahead of team-mates Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen. The equally-matched Ford duo traded places throughout the day and tonight's gap is the widest it has been all day.

A 'Paso doble' for Citroën in Catalonia

The extremely windy first day of the 2008 RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada has ended with Citroën Sport's two cars in first and second places. The French squad's two crews dominated throughout and produced one-two finishes on all six stages at the wheel of their respective C4 WRCs. Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena top this evening's provisional leaderboard, 15.8 seconds clear of team-mates Dani Sordo/Marc Martí.

New surface, new car and another new challenge for SWRT

The second asphalt rally for the fledgling Subaru Impreza WRC2008 got off to a demanding start today on the first day of RallyRACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada. With the FIA regulations only allowing limited testing, the team arrived in Spain having done very little running on asphalt and therefore started the rally with realistic expectations.

RallyRACC Catalunya Costa Daurada is the penultimate tarmac event of the year and the first half of a back-to-back asphalt double-header on which SWRT will be running a trio of Impreza WRC2008s for the first time.

Solberg soars to fourth in dramatic climax to Rally New Zealand

Petter Solberg and Phil Mills finished the 38th running of Rally New Zealand in fourth position overall after a dramatic re-shake of the leaderboard on the rally’s penultimate stage. The Whaanga Coast test was the most beautiful of the rally, skirting the Pacific Ocean, but proved a bitter femme fatale for three of the leaders as the competition at the front raged to a nail-biting conclusion.
