Fiat Yamaha Team looking to continue domination in Laguna Seca

The Fiat Yamaha Team arrives in the United States this week in stunning form with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo lying first and second in the championship, separated by just five points. Rossi, who clinched his 100th career victory in Assen on Sunday, has three wins to his name so far and Lorenzo has two, while both riders have finished on the podium in six out of seven races this season to leave Fiat Yamaha leading the Teams' standings and Yamaha the Manufacturers'. The Italian and the Spaniard will make a short stopover in Los Angeles for a visit to Yamaha US on Wednesday before heading north to the coastal town of Monterey and the spectacular Laguna Seca track.

Rossi reaches century of wins and Lorenzo makes it another double podium for Yamaha

Valentino Rossi wrote another chapter in his extraordinary career in Holland today, becoming only the second rider in history to reach 100 Grand Prix wins. 13 years after his very first victory in 125cc, the Italian took the hat-trick of pole position, fastest lap and race win with a perfect display in front of a huge Assen crowd to pass the century mark. It was his 40th win since joining Yamaha in 2004, meaning that over half of his premier-class wins have come with the Japanese factory.

Tenth place for Marquez in 125 cc on classic Assen circuit

Rossi takes pole and Lorenzo joins him on front row to set-up another Fiat Yamaha battle

Valentino Rossi, who is looking for his 100th career victory tomorrow, took his second pole position of the season in the Netherlands today with a commanding display at the Assen TT circuit. His Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo filled the third grid spot after just missing out with his final flying lap. Dani Pedrosa will start from second whilst Casey Stoner, who is joint championship leader along with Rossi and Lorenzo, will head the second row. It is the fourth double front row for the Fiat Yamaha Team this season.

Dutch TT gets underway with Rossi and Lorenzo second and fourth

The sun shone in Assen today as the 61st Dutch TT got underway, the seventh round of the MotoGP World Championship. Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, who jointly lead the championship with Casey Stoner and who both have impressive track records here, started the weekend off in strong fashion, finishing the day second and fourth respectively.

Rossi and Lorenzo make the most of rare post-race test

The Fiat Yamaha Team were hard at work in the first post-race test of the season yesterday, fresh from a spectacular display in Sunday’s Catalan Grand Prix which saw Valentino Rossi triumph over his team-mate Jorge Lorenzo by just 0.095 seconds. The pair barely had time to come down from their high but with testing strictly limited this season yesterday’s test in Spain was of key importance for the next stage of the season, which brings four races inside five weeks.

Yamaha superstars Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo dominated an incredible Catalan Grand Prix today, delivering a show-stopping performance from start to finish at Montmeló in front of a packed house. It was the reigning World Champion Rossi who finally emerged the winner, taking a memorable 99th career victory after a stunning last-corner pass on his 22-year-old team-mate, but the Fiat Yamaha pair were separated by under one hundredth of a second after 25 thrilling laps.

Lorenzo and Rossi ready for Catalonian challenge

The Fiat Yamaha Team moves to Spain for the Grand Prix of Catalunya this week and after Valentino Rossi's home race in Italy last time out it is now Jorge Lorenzo's turn in the spotlight as the local hero. After a thrilling race in Mugello the pair now lie second and third in the championship and another exciting spectacle beckons this weekend at the high-speed Montmeló track.
