COLIN BRAUN LEADS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR TITLE; SEEKS FIRST WIN IN TRUCK SERIES.

COLIN BRAUN – No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150
ONE OF YOUR GOALS FOR THIS YEAR WAS TO WIN A RACE. “Yeah, absolutely. I think anybody’s goal is to obviously win a race. To step into this No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150 truck that Travis Kvapil drove the year before and won three races in [Kvapil won four races in 2007] is certainly a proven fast truck. I’m sure you mean a rookie hasn’t won a race for Roush in a while. I guess we had two guys [rookie drivers] win races already this year with Scott Speed and Donny Lia, there this year. I’d love to win a race. I think right now we’re in a position where there’s not a whole lot of people competing for this rookie of the year deal, so we’ve just got to keep finishing top-10s, top-fives and things like that and bring home our trucks in one piece and just have good results, learn a lot. I’ve run a few Nationwide races this year, so like you say, I’ve done a lot of races and got a chance to learn a lot this year and hopefully it comes together for us a little bit at the end of the season.”

RICK CRAWFORD SEEKS FIRST VICTORY OF 2008 AT GATEWAY INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

RICK CRAWFORD – No. 14 Circle Bar Truck Corral/Power Stroke Diesel by International Ford F-150 – ON RACING AT GATEWAY – “I was the first person to change the rule to only one green-white-checkered at the end of the race. We had about four here back in 2004 and I think I caused about a 30-minute red flag because they had to turn my truck back over. That was one of the rule changes that NASCAR had to make and they made it because of me.”

CRAWFORD RUNS FIFTH IN O'REILLY 200

RICK CRAWFORD – No. 14 PowerStroke Diesel by Int’l Ford F-150 (Finished 5th)
“I wasn’t happy with where we started, but I was really happy with where we finished. People need to drive one of these Ford F-150’s, especially the F-Series pickup with the Ford PowerStroke Diesel in it by International. We’re built Ford tough. We started 24th tonight here at Bristol, I thought we could do it, I had a plan and it worked out for us. We passed them when we came to them. We were in a defensive mode there at the end. We had the four foreign makes ahead of us and we were the only American made vehicle in the top five, so it feels good. Our team needed this to build some momentum for Gateway and Loudon, which are good tracks for us. To come out of this particular place with a top five feels pretty good.”

ERIK DARNELL LEADS FORD F-150S AT ORP WITH THIRD PLACE FINISH

ERIK DARNELL – No. 99 Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150 – (finished 3rd, qualified 3rd)
“It was a pretty good night for our the Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150. We just kind of missed it. It’s tough during these short races where you only get one chance or one pit stop to get the truck right. We got it good in the middle of the race, but we weren’t where we needed to be at the end. Unfortunately, it kind of bit us a little bit. We were too tight and I didn’t have anything for the 23 or the 33. Matt Puccia and all the guys did a great job this weekend. The truck was good again. We qualified well, we ran up front all night and that’s what we’ve got to keep doing. We’ve got to keep knocking out these top five and try to make up points on these guys to get back in the championship hunt.”

COLIN BRAUN POSTS FASTEST TIME IN FINAL PRACTICE AT ORP

Colin Braun – No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150

“I think we have a really good truck for tonight. The crew worked really hard in practice. We made a ton of changes. That’s one of the greatest things about working for this team and working with my crew chief Mike Beam. We get such a good plan here at the start of the day. We worked through so many different changes and made so many runs. I feel like we really accomplished a lot and got a lot of changes made in our truck. I feel like we’ll be in really good shape tonight with this No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.”

ERIK DARNELL FINISHES SECOND AT MEMPHIS; CRAWFORD AND EAST POST TOP-10 FINISHES

ERIK DARNELL – No. 99 Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150 – (finished 2nd, qualified 4th)
“Overall, it was a real good night for our Northern Tool + Equipment Ford. Second is nothing to frown about. I was really hoping to pick up the win tonight. But Matt Puccia and all the guys on pit road did a great job with adjustments tonight. My buddy Jason is riding along with me tonight. Ron [Hornaday] is a real good friend of mine and if I got to him, I wasn’t going to hit him. He’s always run me very clean and I think maybe two more laps and we would have been able to get to him. He was just better on the restart and we were better on the long run.”

COLIN BRAUN RETURNS TO MEMPHIS MOTORSPORTS PARK WITH CONFIDENCE

COLIN BRAUN – No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150
YOU’VE HAD A BUSY WEEK SINCE RACING DOUBLE-DUTY IN MILWAUKEE.
“Yeah, I sure did. On Tuesday, I went to Los Angeles and Palm Springs on the Ford Driving Skills for Life program. It’s an online-based safe driving program that teaches teen drivers skills above and beyond the normal driver education program. There was a Mustang skid car available where the teens could safely steer out of a skid. It was really awesome. I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet with the teens out there. Then yesterday, after arriving in Memphis, I met with some of the Con-way Freight people. This morning, a couple of drivers and I went to St. Jude’s and spent time with some of the kids there. It was a busy but fun week and I’m ready to go racing.”

ERIK DARNELL POSTS FASTEST TIME IN NCTS HAPPY HOUR PRACTICE AT MEMPHIS

ERIK DARNELL – No. 99 Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150
“I think our Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150 is pretty good in race trim. Obviously, were not qualifying at night, so the conditions are going to be a little bit different, but we needed to get an idea of what it was going to do in qualifying trim. In the nighttime, it’s pretty fast. I don’t know what it is going to do tomorrow at 5:30pm. I’m more worried about how it’s going to race but at the same time, you have to have a good starting spot here because track position is pretty important. It’s hard to pass here. Hopefully, we’ll get a good starting spot and keep it there.”

ERIK DARNELL FINISHES FOURTH AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE

ERIK DARNELL – No. 99 Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150 – (finished 4th, qualified 13th)
“I don’t know exactly what happened at the end. We just didn’t keep up with the track as well as we needed to. Our Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150 was really good in the middle of the race. After our first pit stop we took tires and were able to drive right up into the lead and drive away from everybody. At that point, I thought the truck was doing really well. I thought we were in pretty good shape. We just weren’t good on the longer runs. We started sliding backwards a little bit. On that last pit stop we tried to hit it with some adjustments and new tires and missed it by a little bit. We weren’t quite as we good as we were in the middle part of the race. We just rode it out and finished fourth.”

RICK CRAWFORD LEADS NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES POINTS WITH NINTH PLACE FINISH AT DOVER

FORD RACING

TRAVIS KVAPIL – No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford F-150 – (finished 4th, qualified 20th)
“It was a lot of hard work. It felt like we had an okay truck yesterday. We didn’t qualify very good. I’ve been really struggling with the Zaxby’s Ford F-150 the last couple of times I drove it. We know we’re better than this. So, it was good to have a good solid day. The truck was really pretty good all day. We hardly make any adjustments. We made some air pressure adjustments and that was it. It didn’t qualify good, but it raced good and it stayed the same speed all day long. It was pretty good; track position was really, really a big deal. I was faster than the 33 [Hornaday] and the 2 [Sprague], I felt like at the end there. Just being behind them made my truck tight. And you saw what the 22 [Scott Speed] did there out there in clean air was pretty good for him.”
